Historic Range Rover auction

Your chance to own a piece of motoring history – the first ever Range Rover.

Range Rover (chassis No 001) will be going under the hammer in The Salon Privé Sale, hosted in partnership with Silverstone Auctions, in London on September 4.

Valued at £100,000-£140,000, it was the first example of the iconic SUV to roll off the production line in 1969.

Built between November 24-December 17 1969, it was registered on 2nd January 1970 – nearly six months before the official launch date of the Range Rover.

The car was re-sprayed in Bahama Gold and sold to a new owner in 1975. However, changes to registrations as well as colour meant that chassis number 001 was ‘lost’ for a number of years, passing through to another owner and then the discovery by the current vendor in the early 1990s.

The car has been totally restored and taken back to its original Oliver Green colour and in 1997 the DVLA reissued it with its original registration number, YVB 151H.
