Kia Motors leading the charge

Kia e-Niro review

The award-winning Kia e-Niro was the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in the UK during October, according to the latest official figures.

Kia sold 833 e-Niros in October, representing an 8.9% share of all EVs sold in that month.

In the UK, the affordable Niro family of SUVs (including plug-in and self-charging hybrid models) outsold Kia’s long-standing best-seller, the Sportage.

On a wider basis across Europe, in the third quarter of 2020 hybrids and EVs made up more than one in four Kia sales.

October saw yet another increase for EVs as a percentage of all UK car sales, with a record-breaking 12.1% market share.

In total, another 17,110 new EV registrations were recorded (9,335 EVs and 7,775 PHEVs), taking the UK cumulative total to more than 390,000 plug-in vehicles on UK roads (an estimated 173,500 EVs and 217,000 PHEVs).
