Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor’s beloved ‘Green Goddess’ Rolls-Royce is to be auctioned this summer.
The 1960 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II will go under the hammer via Guernsey’s Auction on August 6 at The Pierre Hotel – a luxury hotel on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Soon after Elizabeth Taylor and Eddie Fisher married in 1959, the happy couple travelled to the UK to pick up the custom-made Rolls Royce.
It was left-hand drive and painted a unique “Smoke Green” colour to match Taylor’s favourite dresses.
In 1962, Elizabeth Taylor flew to Rome where she was the lead in Cleopatra and fell in love with her co-star Richard Burton. She left Fisher for Burton whom she married in 1964, after which, the Green Goddess featured on the covers of various magazines, including Vanity Fair.
Taylor kept the Green Goddess until the late 1970s when she offered it for sale in the Wall Street Journal and the current keeper has owned it ever since.
One of approximately 20 left-hand drive Silver Cloud II drophead coupes, it has covered just 40,644 miles.
