Here’s your chance to own a piece of automotive history – the last ever Saab to roll off the assembly line in Trollhättan, Sweden.
NEVS (National Electric Vehicles Sweden), the Chinese group that bought Saab in 2012, has announced it will auction off the last regular-production car made.
The very special Saab 9-3 Aero Sedan Turbo4, with just three miles (5km) on the clock, will be on public display at NEVS in Trollhättan during the Saab Car Museum festival (June 7-9) before its sale later in 2019.
Officially, all production was halted at Saab’s plant in 2011. But for a short period of time starting in December 2013, NEVS relaunched production of the Saab 9-3 Aero Sedan with a petrol engine. By then, the car production process had been standing still for two and a half years, so it was a complex exploit to start producing cars again.
The final batch of Saabs were manufactured in the original factory with original parts sourced from around 400 suppliers. During 2013-2014 only 420 cars were made – the last ever to roll off the assembly line.
