Volvo XC60

The Volvo XC60 has been named World Car of the Year 2018 at the New York Auto Show, adding another accolade to the Swedish car maker’s growing list.

In March, the XC60’s smaller sibling, the new Volvo XC40 compact SUV, was named European Car of the Year for 2018.

The XC60 beat strong competition from the Range Rover Velar and Mazda CX-5, and it was the second year in a row that the top three finalists in the World COTY award were SUVs.

Other World Car of the Year award winners for 2018 included:

  • Design: Range Rover Velar
  • Urban: Volkswagen Polo
  • Green: Nissan LEAF
  • Performance: BMW M5
  • Luxury: Audi A8
