Whenever a new car is launched there follows an advertising campaign during which the motoring press has the chance to express their opinion and advise buyers accordingly. This is one way to do it but with the exciting new Peugeot 308 the French company have also chosen to ask the very people who will actually be their customers. This means they have confidence in the car.
The Peugeot 308 makes a virtue of the principle that less is more. Outside it is sleek and streamlined with the slim new LED headlights lending the car a sort of dynamic ‘cat-like’ look. Inside, as can be seen in the image, the unique PEUGEOT i-Cockpit is stripped right down, with most functions controlled by the touchscreen, allowing the driver and passengers a high level of technology and luxury within a pure, minimal design.
The 308 is lighter than its predecessor by an amazing 140kg. There’s a new, more compact, steering wheel accompanying the newly-developed electric power steering and the combination means that on the road handling is responsive and controlled.
It’s a beautiful car but the beauty is more than skin-deep. There’s a range of economical and powerful engines to suit. For real fuel-sipping motoring that still offers performance, the BlueHDi diesel engine produces a healthy 120bhp whilst emitting just 82g/km of CO². Kind to the planet and kind to the wallet!
The big challenge for the experts at Peugeot was to deliver a car that will still be like new after three years of driving it. That’s a high-end challenge but Peugeot believe they have achieved it. This why they asked their future customers to try it for themselves and you can see what they thought here.
