Ford Mustang: quick off the mark

The all-new Ford Mustang is the fastest accelerating Ford coupé ever offered in Europe.

Ford says the 5.0-litre V8 version of the car will hit 62mph in just 4.8 seconds – faster than any Ford coupé in Europe since the limited Ford GT supercar launched in 2005.

Even the Mustang with the smaller 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine is no slouch with a 0-62mph time of 5.8sec, yet exceeding 35mpg with 179 g/km CO2 emissions.

More than 1,200 UK customers have ordered the new Mustang fastback and convertible, which are set to reach dealerships from October.

On sale in Europe – and in right hand drive form – for the first time in the car’s 50-year history, the V8 achieves the fastest possible acceleration off the line on the track assisted by Launch Control technology.

Ford will start RHD production of the first European specification Ford Mustangs this summer at its Flat Rock facility in Michigan. It will be available in 10 exterior colours and equipped as standard with 19in wheels, automatic xenon headlamps, dual-zone climate control, LED tail lamps, and a rear diffuser.

The Ford Mustang model range is priced from £28,995.
