Zero-emission landmark as Renault-Nissan Alliance sells 200,000th electric vehicle.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance celebrated the sale of 200,000 electric vehicle in early November and the group also claims to enjoy 58% of the zero-emission global market.
Renault-Nissan EVs have driven four billion kilometres – enough to circle the earth 100,000 times. That’s 200 million litres of fuel saved – enough to fill about 80 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
Alliance EVs also represent 450 million kg of CO2 that has not been emitted while driving.
Four years after its launch, the Nissan LEAF – the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle – remains the best-selling electric vehicle in history.
From January through the first week of November of this year, the Alliance sold about 66,500 units—an increase of about 20% from the same period last year.
The Alliance sells about two out of three electric vehicles worldwide, including Twizy, Renault’s two-seater urban commuter vehicle, the Zoe city car and the Nissan e-NV200 van.
Nissan LEAF is the world’s best-selling electric vehicle, though Renault led in Europe during October.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance, a strategic partnership between the two companies formed in 1999, sold 8.3 million cars in nearly 200 countries in 2013.
