Tesla Model 3 named ‘new car of the year’

The Tesla Model 3 has been crowned New Car of the Year 2020 at the annual Auto Trader New Car Awards.

Tesla’s acclaimed Model 3 proved to be an aspirational favourite with the public, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Kia Niro and Porsche Macan for Best New Car in the consumer vote featuring the views of more than 181,000 car owners.

Unlike many other car awards, which rely on editorial judging panels, the Auto Trader New Car Awards are decided by real car owners voting to decide the winner of 18 categories.

“These awards recognise the brands and cars that are doing it right in the eyes of those whose opinions matter most, consumers,” said Rory Reid, Auto Trader’s YouTube Director.

“They prove how manufacturers are taking consumers’ needs into consideration and innovating to bring a great and wide choice of cars to market. Each of our winners is well deserving – congratulations to all.”
