New Porsche 911 in spectacular Alpine stunt

Porsche 911 Alpine stunt

This is the extraordinary moment the all-new Porsche 911 was literally dropped off at an exclusive Alpine resort by helicopter.

The iconic sports car – now in its eighth generation – has previously only been on display at motor shows.

However, enthusiasts got an extra-special close-up of the 911 Carrera S at a mountain-top event held at the Areit-Alm restaurant, above Zell am See in the Austrian Alps.

Stunning video and photos show the yellow coupe being picked up by a helicopter and then transported seamlessly to the beauty spot almost 1,500 metres above sea level.

It was then lowered and’ parked up’ on the balcony of the picturesque venue.

The new Porsche 911 was unveiled at last November’s Los Angeles Motor Show and it’s the latest in a long line of the firm’s legendary rear-engined sports cars.

The new £93,000 911 Carrera S is fitted with 3.0-litre turbocharged engine developing 450bhp, with power delivered to the wheels by a new eight-speed transmission, giving it a 0-62mph time of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 190mph.

The new 911 was on display during the “GP Ice Race”, held in Austria. Le Mans winner Hans-Joachim Stuck and Porsche brand ambassadors Mark Webber and Walter Röhrl were among 130 participants who drove sports cars around a 600-metre long ice course.
