Pope’s Lamborghini raises £714,317 for charity

Pope Francis signs special Lamborghini Huracan

A 2018 Lamborghini Huracán, gifted by Automobili Lamborghini to His Holiness Pope Francis, has sold for  €809,375 (£714,317).

The one-off supercar more than doubled its estimates (€250k-€350k) in a frantic bidding war at RM Sotheby’s biannual Monaco auction staged at the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique.

Offered without reserve, all proceeds from the sale of the uniquely customised car will be allocated to the Vatican’s preferred charitable organisations.

Lamborghini unveiled the car in the Vatican during a special ceremony on November 15 in the presence of Pope Francis, who signed the bonnet. The Huracán RWD pays tribute to the colours of the flag of the Vatican City and is painted in Bianco Monocerus with Giallo Tiberino stripes.
