The first new SsangYong Rextons have arrived in the UK after a marathon 13,000km ‘test drive’ from South Korea.
They completed their 50-day trek from the SsangYong factory in Pyeongtaek via Beijing and the Silk Road.
Designed to test the vehicles in extreme conditions, the Rexton Trans Eurasia Trail travelled through 10 different countries, including China, Kazakhstan and Russia.
“This all-new, fourth generation Rexton is a major step forward for the brand,” said Johng-sik Choi, CEO of SsangYong Motor, who travelled to the UK to greet the teams.
“The Trans Eurasia Trail gave us the ultimate test drive opportunity, and a superb way to launch the car in Europe.
“This was a huge challenge for the cars and their drivers, and the ultimate test of performance and reliability. The cars equipped themselves brilliantly.”
The all-new SsangYong Rexton is officially launched in the UK in October, priced from £27,500 on the road.
