Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor has taken delivery of a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, courtesy of a 12-month association deal with a Staffordshire showroom.
The 16-time World Darts Champion picked up the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid SUV from Holdcroft Mitsubishi in Leek Road, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.
Phil can now drive to tournaments in comfort and style, knowing he’s also helping the environment thanks to the Outlander PHEV’s ultra-low emissions.
And while darts is all about the 180s, the magic number for Taylor on this occasion is 148 – that’s the number of miles to the gallon he can achieve in his new hybrid SUV.
Since its launch last year, the Outlander PHEV – which combines electric and petrol power – has been a phenomenal success, with more than 10,000 sold in the UK by the end of March 2015.
“The Outlander PHEV is a great car. I drive around the country a lot so need a comfortable vehicle to make sure I’m fresh and prepared when I turn up for tournaments,” said Phil, who’s from Stoke-on-Trent.
The Outlander PHEV has an electric range of up to 32.5 miles, emits just 44g of CO2 per kilometre and boasts an official combined fuel consumption figure of up to 148 miles per gallon. This means that no vehicle tax is payable plus it’s exempt from the London congestion charge.
It’s also eligible for the government’s £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant, and because the Benefit In Kind is just 5%t means a virtual pay rise of several thousand pounds a year for company car drivers.
