The Ford Fiesta is the UK’s most popular first-time car, according to Confused.com insurance data.

Whether it was a hand-me-down, a second-hand motor that was haggled for at the dealership or the car of your dreams, your first car has a special place in your heart.

Key characteristics we look for when getting our first car including easy driving, affordability, and that all-important cool factor.

First-time drivers who insured with Confused.com particularly liked their Fiesta with a Zetec trim, while second-placed Corsa drivers went for the sporty SXi spec.

In fact, Vauxhall is the most popular car manufacturer for the UK’s first-time drivers with 67,519 drivers insured over the past 12 months.

Ford was runner-up with 57,386 drivers insured, while Volkswagen took the third step on the podium (31,857) followed by Fiat, MINI, Peugeot and Honda.
